Custom "Spec" Homes?

Custom and spec, not two terms you usually associate together, especially in real estate. At Kalin Custom Homes we use the two terms together by sticking to our basic home building philosophy -- we take the time to listen to our customers, prospective customers and their real estate agents.

Assuming that most successful builders are good builders, what makes a good custom builder? More than 25 years of experience leads us to one conclusion -- good communication. And what makes good communication? Most of the time, a willingness to communicate.

Our success as custom home builders rests on our communication with the home owners. At Kalin Custom Homes, we take that same attitude to our spec homes. First, we are willing to meet with prospective buyers and real estate agents at any time during the building process to discuss the current status of the project and what areas of the project can still be customized. Secondly, we can provide budget and customer allowance figures for interior selections at any time during the building process.

We try to keep the industry informed of the status of each spec home in the "Additional Remarks" section of our MLS listings.

Obviously, the opportunity to customize the features of a spec home change as each step of the construction process is completed. What makes Kalin Custom Homes unique is our willingness to work with prospective homeowners at any stage in the spec home construction to customize it for their family.
