Customizing Homes for the Northland
Assuming that most successful builders are good
builders, what makes a good custom builder? Mark Kalin of Kalin Custom
Homes will quickly tell you it isn’t hammers, saws and power tools. More
than 25 years of experience leads Kalin to one conclusion -- a willingness
to communicate.
Specializing in
custom and semi-custom homes on rural estates and in residential
subdivisions in the northland, much of Kalin’s work centers on
“custom-spec” homes. Custom and spec, not two terms you usually
associate together, especially in real estate. Kalin uses the two terms
together in reference to his home building philosophy -- we take the time
to listen to our customers, prospective customers and their real estate
agents.
Our success as custom home builders rests on our
communication with the home owners. We take that same attitude to our
spec homes. First, we are willing to meet with prospective buyers and
real estate agents at any time during the building process to discuss the
current status of the project and what areas of the project can still be
customized. Secondly, we can provide budget and customer allowance
figures for interior selections at any time during the building process.
The opportunity to customize the features of a spec
home changes as each step of the construction process is completed. What
makes Kalin unique is his willingness to work with prospective homeowners
at any stage in the spec home construction to customize it for their
family.
Good communications don’t start at the build site.
Mark can provide prospective home owners with a variety of planning tools
and information to use during their planning. A large selection of free
home building literature is available from Mark’s website,
kalincustomhomes.com.
Mark Kalin also
teaches a class on home building through the Adult Education program at
the North Kansas City School system. A class schedule can be found on his
website. |
